Thanks to Melissa Balmain, you can watch the reading she organized as a tribute to John Mella, whose magazine, Light Quarterly, was like no other. Mella published only comic verse crafted by serious poets. Contributors included X. J. Kennedy and John Updike. My long poem, “Persnickety Ichabod’s Rhyming Diary,” was serialized in Light, appearing in nine installments. This entertaining video includes readings by Bruce Bennett, Julie Kane, A. M. Juster, David Yezzi, A. E. Stallings, and a great many other talented poets. I read a few entries from Ichabod’s diary.
